Get ready to gear up for one of the hottest Super Bowl 2011 Parties with Prince and Erykah Badu.

Most people will agree that Prince gave one of the best halftime performances at Super Bowl XLI in 2007. The legend, known as Prince, isn’t going to perform for half time this year, but he’ll be in Dallas for a pre-game benefit show two nights before the big game.

Dubbed “The Event,” each party-goers’ evening will be filled with music, art, food, and spirits. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Goss-Michaels Foundation, supporting the arts. Tickets start at $1,500 for the basic package (general admission, food, and open bar) and go up to $25,000 for VIP treatment for 10 stage side. This show is Friday, Feb 4th at 8 pm in the intimate tent complex at the site that once housed the Reunion Arena.

Prince has produced 10 platinum albums and 30 top 40 singles over the span of his legendary career. He’s won all of the awards, is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and has been ranked by Rolling Stones as one of the top 30 artists of all time. Almost all live performance reviews exclaim that Prince is not to be missed!

Erykah Badu is also onboard to perform at the soiree. Unlike Prince’s Super Bowl performance, Badu’s latest video, Window Seat, garnered attention for all the wrong reasons. The video, inspired by indie darlings Matt & Kim, shows Badu walking busy sidewalks in Dallas near the site of JFK’s assassination, while slowly removing all of her clothing, to finally be shot by an unseen assassin. Now she’s returning to the scene of the crime it seems, hopefully without getting another Indecency charge.

This is an event surely to draw major Super Bowl attending stars and athletes. Plus, it’s for a great cause. ‘The Event’: Reunion Arena, Dallas. Feb 4th at 8 pm. Get the Event Tickets here.

Well it is not secret the Black Eyed Peas will be the half time performance for the 2011 Super Bowl in Arlington, Texas.

It’s been a while since the younger generation has been offered anything at a Super Bowl halftime show to make them want to stick around and watch. Since 2004, the hip hop sound has been shunned and the organizers seem to have always been on a classic rock kick.

Including the classic rock kick in recent years, we’ve seen The Who, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springstein and the E Street Band, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Prince.

But for the 2011 Super Bowl, it’s finally back to hip hop as the Black Eyed Peas have been chosen to perform.

Many people have been wondering if hip hop has been cold-shouldered because of the 2004 show. As you might recall, that show included Nelly, P. Diddy, Justin Timberlake and, of course, Janet Jackson. And of course there was that infamous certain wardrobe malfunction?

When Janet Jackson‘s nipple was flashed – accidently or not – the organizers of the show clearly felt it was inappropriate for the entire world to see. Since then, they have taken the safe approach with the halftime shows by selecting acts that are more conservative in their performances and cater to an older crowd.

Even the Black Eyed Peas – while they are a return to hip hop – are a conservative choice. The group definitely has a pop flavor to them and while they have several hits buzzing on the Billboard charts, they aren’t exactly the type of hip hop acts that rings loud through the hood.

Nonetheless, the Black Eyed Peas have sold more than 28 million albums worldwide and will be a halftime show that caters to everyone.

Previously, the Black Eyed Peas performed at the Super Bowl pregame show in 2005. They’ll take over the stage at halftime of Super Bowl XLV on February 6th, 2011 when the NFL’s championship game takes place in Arlington, Texas.

During the New Orleans Saints-Dallas Cowboys game on November 25, 2010, it was announced that the Black Eyed Peas would play as the Bridgestone Halftime Show.

It marks the first time since the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime controversy that the halftime show has been performed by an act from outside the classic rock genre.
