Get ready to gear up for one of the hottest Super Bowl 2011 Parties with Prince and Erykah Badu.

Most people will agree that Prince gave one of the best halftime performances at Super Bowl XLI in 2007. The legend, known as Prince, isn’t going to perform for half time this year, but he’ll be in Dallas for a pre-game benefit show two nights before the big game.

Dubbed “The Event,” each party-goers’ evening will be filled with music, art, food, and spirits. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Goss-Michaels Foundation, supporting the arts. Tickets start at $1,500 for the basic package (general admission, food, and open bar) and go up to $25,000 for VIP treatment for 10 stage side. This show is Friday, Feb 4th at 8 pm in the intimate tent complex at the site that once housed the Reunion Arena.

Prince has produced 10 platinum albums and 30 top 40 singles over the span of his legendary career. He’s won all of the awards, is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and has been ranked by Rolling Stones as one of the top 30 artists of all time. Almost all live performance reviews exclaim that Prince is not to be missed!

Erykah Badu is also onboard to perform at the soiree. Unlike Prince’s Super Bowl performance, Badu’s latest video, Window Seat, garnered attention for all the wrong reasons. The video, inspired by indie darlings Matt & Kim, shows Badu walking busy sidewalks in Dallas near the site of JFK’s assassination, while slowly removing all of her clothing, to finally be shot by an unseen assassin. Now she’s returning to the scene of the crime it seems, hopefully without getting another Indecency charge.

This is an event surely to draw major Super Bowl attending stars and athletes. Plus, it’s for a great cause. ‘The Event’: Reunion Arena, Dallas. Feb 4th at 8 pm. Get the Event Tickets here.

Well it is not secret the Black Eyed Peas will be the half time performance for the 2011 Super Bowl in Arlington, Texas.

It’s been a while since the younger generation has been offered anything at a Super Bowl halftime show to make them want to stick around and watch. Since 2004, the hip hop sound has been shunned and the organizers seem to have always been on a classic rock kick.

Including the classic rock kick in recent years, we’ve seen The Who, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springstein and the E Street Band, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Prince.

But for the 2011 Super Bowl, it’s finally back to hip hop as the Black Eyed Peas have been chosen to perform.

Many people have been wondering if hip hop has been cold-shouldered because of the 2004 show. As you might recall, that show included Nelly, P. Diddy, Justin Timberlake and, of course, Janet Jackson. And of course there was that infamous certain wardrobe malfunction?

When Janet Jackson‘s nipple was flashed – accidently or not – the organizers of the show clearly felt it was inappropriate for the entire world to see. Since then, they have taken the safe approach with the halftime shows by selecting acts that are more conservative in their performances and cater to an older crowd.

Even the Black Eyed Peas – while they are a return to hip hop – are a conservative choice. The group definitely has a pop flavor to them and while they have several hits buzzing on the Billboard charts, they aren’t exactly the type of hip hop acts that rings loud through the hood.

Nonetheless, the Black Eyed Peas have sold more than 28 million albums worldwide and will be a halftime show that caters to everyone.

Previously, the Black Eyed Peas performed at the Super Bowl pregame show in 2005. They’ll take over the stage at halftime of Super Bowl XLV on February 6th, 2011 when the NFL’s championship game takes place in Arlington, Texas.

Houston football fans scouring the Internet for deals on Super Bowl tickets without having to take out a second mortgage may have some encouraging news.

Plans are under way by the National Football League and the City of Arlington to allow fans to purchase standing-room only tickets for the big game at Cowboys Stadium, according to media reports.

Cowboys Stadium is already one of the biggest stadiums in the league with 80,000 seats, but the additional standing-room only attendance could make it the most-attended Super Bowl in history.

An increased supply in tickets could affect the prices, said Christian Anderson, a spokesman with FanSnap.com, a consumer ticket comparison website.

Tickets for the Feb. 6 game currently are averaging $4,251 on the website, which has yet to see the added standing-room only tickets, he said.

“If the league does make SRO tickets available, fans can expect the increased supply to create downward pressure,” Anderson said, adding the football teams going to the Super Bowl also will likely influence ticket sales.

——————————————————————————–

Kim Kardashian shared the news on her blog today that she will be starring in her very own Super Bowl commercial for Skechers. I can finally reveal that the top-secret commercial I’ve been working on recently is my Skechers Shape-Ups Super Bowl ad!!!

I don’t want to give too much away, but the storyline of the ad is so fun and I think you guys are going to love the commercial. I have to break someone’s heart in the end… but you’ll have to wait to see why!

It’s a huge honor to be starring in a Super Bowl commercial. When I was younger I used to love the Pepsi ads from the 1990s starring Cindy Crawford… so sexy!

You can also get a behind-the-scenes peek in Wednesday’s edition of Us Weekly or on Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday night. Also, there are going to be some fab extras on the Skechers Facebook page so make sure you “Like” them so you don’t miss out.

This is a great article from Ryan Faller of The Bleacher Report:

The 2011 Super Bowl is still more than three weeks away, and six games are yet to be played in determining who will meet in Arlington, Tex. for the Lombardi Trophy on Feb. 6.

But only one matchup makes perfect sense: Green Bay Packers versus New England Patriots.

Let’s take a second to explore the alternatives.

First, let’s eliminate the Seattle Mariners, which carries absolutely no cachet, though a spirited run to the Super Bowl as the only 7-9 team in history to make the playoffs makes for a juicy story line worthy of being beaten to death.

Same goes for Atlanta. The Atlanta Falcons are an up-and-coming team, but the franchise’s lack of favorable postseason history, outside of a Super Bowl appearance in 1999, won’t generate much buzz.

Baltimore Ravens has been there, done that, winning it all in 2001, but a shot at a second ring for veteran Ray Lewis in the twilight of his career would be fitting, as it would for Ed Reed, who was drafted by the Ravens just two seasons after the title run.

The New York Jets are more than four decades removed from Joe Namath’s guarantee and the ensuing upset over the Baltimore Colts, so the overdue factor applies here. Rex Ryan would make for some all-time great one-liners during media week, and the NFL wouldn’t mind having the undivided attention of the New York television market.

But like the Ravens, the Jets don’t necessarily have that one player, particularly at quarterback, that can evoke an overwhelming mix of love, hate, respect and celebrity.

Pittsburgh Steelers does, in Ben Roethlisberger and perhaps the NFL fine machine, defensive end James Harrison, and it’d be nice to see the Steelers tie Dallas’ record mark with the organization’s eighth Super Bowl appearance.

History is on the side of the Chicago Bears too. Football’s winningest franchise with 704 victories, Chicago is surpassed in total number of league championships only by Green Bay, which has 12 to the Bears’ nine.

Together, Pittsburgh and Chicago, who have never met for a league championship, would make for a matchup that just makes sense, if for no reason other than both teams’ historical imprint on the game.

But no one combination from the AFC and NFC, including the Bears and Steelers, would be more attractive than Green Bay and New England.

We could only hope it would be as enthralling as when they met in Week 15, a 31-27 Patriots win at Foxborough.

The Patriots, as the most dominant team of the last decade, have become a brand more powerful than any in the NFL. The Packers stand alone as the most iconic organization in football history, if not all of professional sports.

Tom Brady, painfully close to joining the greats after an undefeated season in 2007, would be afforded the chance to etch his name alongside Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw as the only quarterbacks ever to win four Super Bowl titles.

Aaron Rodgers would be in pursuit of just his first, but a victory would pull him even with Brett Favre, his Hall of Fame predecessor and arguably the finest of all time, who earned his lone ring with a win of the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI.

The Xs and Os would be intriguing, matching Brady’s nearly invincible persona and New England’s workmanlike offense versus Green Bay’s exuberant 3-4 defense, against the glitzy and glamorous backdrop that is the adult playground called Jerry World.

If you can argue for a better Super Bowl scenario, let me know.

I doubt the NFL would relish anything less.

(Go Daddy typically has a “see more at GoDaddy.com” message at the conclusion of its commercials as a busty women starts to take off her clothes.) Click here to name this last GoDaddy Girl.<br.

In the press release, .Co Internet S.A.S. CEO Juan Diego Calle says “Cool domain names, long gone in the dotCOM sphere, are available now with dotCO…We think the new Go Daddy dotCO Girl will bring dotCO to the mainstream — it’s a memorable, meaningful domain name extension destined to open up millions of new, creative branding opportunities on the Internet.”

Here is a great coupon to see if your name is available in the .co name. Be one of the first ones.
